The Unspoken Promise: Why Your Pickle Jar Must Tell a Story of Purity, Not Preservatives
Maatru Rasah

Good morning, all you lovely readers. My name is Puja Shree, and I'm one of the founders of Maatru Rasah. But before I introduce you to our brand, let me start by telling you a story that might just remind you of home, your own worries about what you're really feeding the ones you love.

Consider for a moment when was the last time you really trusted everything on your plate? In a world full of processed foods, where ingredients we can't even pronounce and artificial additives are the rule, that sense of trust and good conscience has worn away. This is no longer just about food; this is now about our health, our future, and what we leave behind for our children.

A Mother's Loving Hands: The Secret to True Goodness

In my childhood, our house was unique. While others munched on factory-made foods, our kitchen was filled with pristine, homemade delights. My mother, Uma Agarwal, an artist with a spoon in her own right, could whip up an incredible variety of pickles – oil-free pickles, sweet pickles, sour garlic pickles, and so on. Her secret? The essence of Indian spices blended with unmatched love and age-old know-how. The greatest thing about it? She do not add any artificial preservatives, all pickles are made in small batch colors. Her pickles last for years, a tribute to ingredients in their purest form.

To us, health was not a fad; it was our lifestyle. And if you ever happen to be skeptical, I challenge anyone to try our pickles in a lab test – you will not detect any preservatives or artificial color added; they are natural and wholesome. This is not an expression; it's a guarantee, anchored on the tradition of our kitchen.

The Awakening: A Common Belief in Purification

My co-founders, Nitesh, Rahul, and their siblings grew up in a family with a strong habit of carefully reading ingredient labels. They were the quintessential "label-checkers." What really opened our eyes, however, was the keen eye of their family, and especially a detail-oriented family friend, who always pointed out the secret chemicals and empty calories hidden in processed foods. They didn't simply explain it; they demonstrated the life-changing significance of homemade, hand-made, and preservative-free products for our well-being.

Their revelations didn't simply move our heads; they awakened something amazingly fundamental inside our hearts – a collective belief that this was basically wrong. At that critical juncture, we, collectively as a team, took it upon ourselves that not only was it our mission, but it was our shared responsibility, to inform individuals about the real meaning of truly homemade food. Nowadays, when conditions like diabetes and heart disease have become so frightening prevalent, we assumed the solemn duty to feed our families and generations to come only the cleanest and healthiest of foods – a duty that is shared by every family who nurtures well-being, by your family.

A Daughter's Promise: Taking "Maatru Rasah" to Every Home

And then there was a day that turned my world around. It was my mother's birthday, and being her daughter, I had the courage to ask her a question we don't often ask our parents, one that will show us their most guarded, unexpressed desires: "Mom, what is your biggest dream?" Her eyes sparkled with a new kind of light. She had a humble, sincere yearning: she wanted to share her sublime sensibilities, her true recipes, her unadulterated, preservative-free sweets and pickles with every Indian home.

At that instant, a defeat I was experiencing in my own career life did not seem a fall, but a robust shock – an unmistakable signpost toward something colossal. My mother's aspiration became my vocation. I decided strictly to leave my job and start a venture that seemed destined. This was not about opening a business; this was about respecting a deep family heritage.

My co-founders, who always shared this underlying concern with the erosion of pure food, immediately latched onto this vision. We, collectively as the management team, witnessed the market filled with preservative-filled pickles, full of additives and artificial colors, and we all uttered these words: "Reviving Our Roots: India's Additive-Free Journey." It was time to make India preservative-free, so that generations to come could relish food as unadulterated and healthy as the heritage they hold dear.

Maatru Rasah: The Taste of India, The Essence of Mother's Love

And that's when Maatru Rasah came into being. "Maatru" is for mother, and "Rasah" means taste and essence. It's an ode to the love and wisdom of the mother and the elders that goes into making each and every product. My mother, Uma Agarwal, and my younger sister are at the very center of our making and spend hours carefully concocting those amazing homemade Indian sweets and pickles so that every batch has the true taste of tradition. Since our pickles are produced in small quantities, their flavor is always original. Every bite is the true flavor of India.
